FOOT MOBILISATION THERAPIES

Foot Mobilisation Therapies @ Saltfleet Clinic

Our podiatry service in Port Noarlunga provides Foot Mobilisation Techniques (FMT) to help treat stubborn foot pain, heel pain and ankle stiffness that isn’t responding to standard care.

FMT is a specialised, hands-on treatment that gently restores movement to the many joints of the foot and ankle. It is commonly used for people suffering from plantar fasciitis (heel pain), achilles tendon pain, bunions, flat feet, arch pain, ankle sprains, chronic foot stiffness and general lower limb discomfort.

Foot Mobilisation works by improving joint movement, reducing stiffness and restoring more natural foot function during walking and running.

This treatment is often combined with biomechanical assessment, gait analysis, strengthening exercises and orthotic therapy to address the underlying cause of pain and prevent symptoms from returning.

We proudly provide FMT to people in all of Adelaide's southern suburbs.

Foot Mobilisation Therapies
This is a gentle manual therapy similar to physiotherapy or chiropractic techniques only concentrated on the complex foot and ankle.

This treatment option can be in combination with orthotic therapy or for the person who does not want to change their shoe practices that orthoses tend to require. FMT undoes the restrictions of our connective tissues that have occurred over our lifetime.

This allows our foot and ankle joints to go back to moving in their full range and to potentially restore joint mobility with some self maintenance.

How Does It Work?

FMT helps your feet in three powerful ways:

  1. Release Stiff Joints:

Many foot problems come from joints that don't move well. FMT gently frees up these stiff joints, helping them move more naturally and easily again.

  2. Lubricates the Joints:

Like oiling a rusty hinge, FMT boosts your joint's natural fluids, which keep cartilage healthy and reduce pain - especially in areas like the midfoot, which are prone to arthritis.

  3. Calms the Nerves:

FMT stimulates tiny nerve endings in your joints that help your brain understand where your foot is in space. This reduces chronic pain, eases tension in surrounding muscles, and improves balance and comfort

Why It's Useful

  • It can work on its own or alongside orthotics and exercise.

  • It's ideal for chronic foot pain, arthritis, or joint stiffness.

  • Patients often feel less pain, better movement, and more confidence when walking.
